The Word of the Week
Happy New Year (almost)! This week, everyone is talking about their plans for 2026.
In English, we don't just call these "plans" or "wishes."
We use a specific, strong word: Resolution.
1. See it in Context
Imagine you want to change a bad habit.
You decide, very firmly, "I will stop smoking on January 1st."
This isn't just a wish. It is a Resolution.
2. Learn the Definition
Resolution (Noun) Meaning: A firm decision to do something or to stop doing something.
Important Grammar Note: We use the verb MAKE with resolution.
❌ Incorrect: "I did a resolution."

3. Common Phrases
New Year's Resolution: A goal set at the start of the year.
Break a Resolution: To stop following your goal (e.g., eating cake on Jan 2nd!).
