Learning phrasal verbs can be difficult because they don't always mean what they seem! The best way to remember them is by hearing them inside a story.

Today, we look at two very useful verbs for shopping.

The Story Recap đź“–

In today's story, I went to the market. I didn't just find tomatoes; I was looking for them.

And I didn't just take any tomatoes; I carefully picked out the best ones.

Phrasal Verb Spotlight

1. Looking for 🔍

We use this when we are searching.

Whether it is your phone, a new job, or fresh vegetables, you are looking for it.

  • "I'm looking for a good book to read."

2. Pick out âś…

This is a more specific way of saying "choose."

It implies that there are many options, and you are selecting one or two.

  • "There were many cakes, but I picked out the chocolate one."
