We’re learning a very useful pattern to talk about time: It takes…
⏱️ What does “It takes…” mean?
We use this structure to say how much time we need to do something.
It’s simple, natural, and used all the time in English.
đź§± The Structure
It takes + (time) + to + (verb)
That’s all you need!
đź’ˇ Examples
✅ It takes 20 minutes to get to work. 🚗(The time needed is 20 minutes.)
✅ It takes me one hour to cook dinner. 🍳(You can add me / him / her / them before the time.)
You can also use it in the past:
âś… It took five years to build the house. đźŹ
This pattern works in every tense.
