Hello everyone, and welcome to On Your Mark’s English! 👋
Today is Saturday Story Time, where we learn real English through short, simple stories.
💬 Listen to the Story
Yesterday, I called my friend.
Me: “Hi! Are you free on Saturday?”
Friend: “Yes, I am! What’s up?”
Me: “I’m a little bored. How about we do something?”
Friend: “Good idea! What about going to the park?”
Me: “Hmm, it looks like it might rain. How about we watch a movie at my house instead?”
Friend: “That sounds perfect! See you then.”
🧠 Real English in the Story
Did you notice the “Real English” expressions we used?
We said “How about…” and “What about…” Both are very common when making suggestions in English.
💡 How to Use Them
To make a suggestion, use one of these patterns:
✅ How about + verb-ing…?✅ What about + verb-ing…?
Examples:
How about watching a movie tonight? 🎬
What about going to the park tomorrow? 🌳
Both phrases mean the same thing and sound friendly and natural in everyday English.
✍️ Your Turn!
You want to suggest getting a coffee with a friend. ☕What can you say?
Try writing your suggestion in the comments below!
💬 Example: “How about getting a coffee this afternoon?”
