Tuesday Grammar: Stop Overusing "Will"
🎥 Watch the 60-second grammar fix above!
Welcome back to On Your Mark's English!
Today, we are fixing a very common habit for English learners: using "will" for every future sentence.
In English, we have different tenses for different types of "future."
If you have a plan in your diary, you should use the Present Continuous.
Planned vs. Unplanned
Unplanned (Sudden): "The phone is ringing. I will answer it."
Planned (Arranged): "I am answering emails at 2:00 PM."
By using the "ing" form for your plans, you show that you are organised and that the event is definitely happening.
It’s a small change that makes a huge impact on your fluency.
Common Scenarios for this Tense:
Social dates: "I'm seeing a movie later."
Travel: "I'm leaving at 8:00 AM."
Appointments: "I'm going to the dentist on Friday."
Try it today:
Look at your calendar.
Pick one thing you are doing tomorrow and write it using the "ing" pattern.
