If you ever feel like your English sentences sound messy, unclear, or “broken,” this lesson will fix that problem once and for all.
Welcome to On Your Mark’s English.
Today, we are learning the most important rule in English grammar: S.V.O.
This rule is the key to building clear, simple, correct sentences.
⭐ What Is S.V.O.?
English sentences usually follow this order:
Subject + Verb + Object
Think of it like this:
• Subject: The hero (Who does the action?)
• Verb: The action (What are they doing?)• Object: The receiver (What is the action affecting?)
Example: “I eat apples.”
I = Subject
eat = Verb
apples = Object
This pattern is the foundation of almost every English sentence.
⚠️ The Problem: Broken English
Many students know the words but put them in the wrong order:
❌ “Apples I eat”❌ “I apples eat”
These mistakes happen because English word order is very strict.
But with S.V.O., you always know where each part belongs.
Correct:✅ “I eat apples.”
Clear, simple, and natural.
🧠 Why S.V.O. Is So Important
Mastering S.V.O. helps you:
• Build clear, easy-to-understand sentences
• Fix confusing word order
• Gain confidence in speaking and writing
• Create both simple and complex sentences correctly
When you know this rule, you unlock your English.
🎮 Practice Time: Can You Fix It?
Here is a scrambled sentence from the lesson:
“Apples I eat.”
Ask yourself:
• Who is doing the action? → I
• What is the action? → eat
• What is being eaten? → apples
Correct sentence:
✅ I eat apples.
Try another one:
“They play football.”
S = They
V = play
O = football
Perfect S.V.O.
📝 Your Homework
Write three S.V.O. sentences in the comments:
What you eat: “I eat…”
What you play: “I play…”
What you study: “I study…”
This is the best way to train your brain to think in correct English.
Play this game to practise what you have just learnt!
