Hello everyone, and welcome to On Your Mark’s English! 👋

Today is Tuesday, and this is Grammar Made Easy!

We’re learning the huge difference between mustn’t and don’t have to.

Many students think they mean the same thing, but they don’t!

🛑 Mustn’t (Prohibition)

We use mustn’t when you have no choice.

You cannot do it. It is bad or against the rules.

Examples:✅ You mustn’t smoke in the hospital. (It is forbidden.)

🤷 Don’t Have To (No Obligation)

We use don’t have to when something is not necessary.

You can do it if you want, but you don’t need to.

Examples:✅ It’s Sunday. I don’t have to go to work. (I can stay in bed.)

🧠 Quick Summary

Mustn’t = Stop! Don’t do it. Don’t have to = You don’t need to. It’s your choice.

Two very different meanings!

✍️ Your Turn!

The museum is free. So: “You ______ pay.”Is it mustn’t or don’t have to?
