Hello everyone, and welcome to On Your Mark’s English! 👋
Today is Thursday, and this is Common Mistakes!
We’re fixing a classic mistake: the difference between make and do.
🔧 DO = Action / Task
We use do for general activities, work, or tasks.
You don’t create anything new; you just finish an activity.
Examples:✅ I need to do my homework. 📝✅ He is doing the dishes. 🍽️
Use do for routines, responsibilities, and tasks.
🎨 MAKE = Create
We use make when we create or produce something new.
Examples:✅ I am making a cake. 🎂✅ She is making a video. 📹
Use make when something new is produced.
🧠 Quick Summary
Do = A task or activity
Examples: do business, do exercise, do the cleaning
Make = Creating something new
Examples: make breakfast, make a mistake, make a plan
