Monday Vocabulary: The "Survival Word" you need to know
🎥 Watch the video version of this lesson above!
Welcome to a new week of Vocabulary Boost!
Today, we are looking at a word that you will see on signs, hear in restaurants, and use in every single meeting: Available.
Many students use the word "free" for everything.
While "free" is okay, available is much more precise and professional when you are talking about time or space.
The 3-Step Learning Method 💡
1. See it in Context
Imagine you are in a crowded coffee shop.
You see a chair, but you aren't sure if someone is sitting there.
You ask: "Is this chair available?"
2. Learn the Definition
Available describes something that is ready to be used.
It also describes a person who is not busy with other work.
"Are you available for a quick phone call?"
3. Make it Your Own
The best way to remember a word is to use it immediately. Think about your schedule today.
"I am available after 6:00 PM tonight."
Why it matters
Using available helps you navigate the world more confidently.
Whether you are booking a hotel room or asking a coworker for help, this word makes your request clear and polite.
Your Turn
Let's practice!
Complete this sentence:
"Is there any ________ (available/availability) space in the car?"
(Hint: Use the adjective!) Tell me in the comments down below :)
